One of the precursors to being SAE certified is being able to mix with other brands I believe. Some racing oils may not be SAE certified but most oils are.

Possibly....but my gut tells me probably not...simply because that would require testing against all other brands....however, I think it may be simply convention that a company will try to make their oils "compatible" with other brands. It may something to do with AFI cert also.

Can AMSOIL motor oils be mixed with other brands?
Answer: Yes. AMSOIL synthetic motor oils are compatible with other conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oil’s life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Mixing other oils with AMSOIL motor oils may also void the AMSOIL limited warranty.

Can different synthetic motor oils be mixed together?
Mobil 1™ synthetic oil is fully compatible with conventional motor oils, semi-synthetic motor oils and other synthetic motor oils, should it be necessary to mix them. However, it is important to note that the superior performance of Mobil 1 oil will be reduced by diluting it in any way.

Since you're a doctor you should probably get some medicine for your gut

Naw...that's pretty much what I said. I think...

I said you could mix, but it's not really recommended. That's pretty much what Amsoil and Mobil 1 said. Keep in mind that of course they will say exactly that above...because that gives you the choice to use their product without buying five quarts...but then of course they say you really shouldn't mix and you should use only their product.
