that is exactly the advantage of XP pads. you can modulate these pads.
With 255 width R-Comps it was just way to slow for me. I had to jam on the pedal and really stand on it. After a few laps....it was impossible to engage ABS. Soon after brake fade followed. So after a few laps I found that the pads were actually holing me up cause I had to actually think about how, when and where I could apply them as constancy degraded quickly. I thought about moving up to XP12 to solve this problem but after doing some research....and talking to some people I was convinced to try a different route and I am very happy with the results. You would need to compare the two as I have in order to fully understand.
Your probably in much better shape if your already running the XP12.

The XR1 can be modulated...and its much better than the XP10 pads but you have to ease into it as the bite is ready when you are. Basically you do the modulation by being smooth instead of letting the pad do it for you which I prefer.

If you'd like to test.....I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised I just need to get a new motor in the car but I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later

I still think there is too much hype about CT.....there are down sides. They are Awesome pads ans I might be nit picking....but being No. 1.....not in my opinion. I don't care what works for everyone else I want what works best for me and I guess that's only some thing you can find through trial and error

But if I can only get 4 days out of a fresh set of XPs, then that is a disappointment, considering you did 4 days and there's plenty pad left. =/
The set I sold you only had 1 day from BW on them and some very limited street driving. Our set ups are quite different...The 255 R-Comps really do a number on the pads. You'll be able to get plenty of time out of the pads but once your set up becomes more advanced I think you'll see the need to step it up to possibly XR12 or find another solution. I'd imagine you'll still get 3 or 4 days out of them

I guess its all personal preference but...for some reason very few people have actually compared the two companies compounds....

yes, I've tried a ton of pads, not only Carbotech and Cobalt, but also PFC and Hawk HT/DTC series. PFC 97 is super long lasting, that's why almost every driving school use them.

Op was asking for auto-x pad. which is very different from track pads. I would recommend stock Honda pads or in Carbotech, AX6. what works warm, don't work well when cold.

review of Cobalt GTS on miata.net

quote from Cobalt dealer: "The stock Honda S2000 wheels also seem to dislike the dust, although only on the XR2 compound"

Cobalt is good (a few fast track guys run them, including Rob.ok), but I would only run them as track pads on track wheels only. but then I would run PFC 01.

I am just stating my opinion. as much as I like Carbotech, there are few negatives - squeal on street, and pricey.

I also like Cobalt. But the XR2 & GTS on street are squeal like a pig. I usually put them on 2-3 days before track and off 2-3 days after track. Every time I roll to stop, I got a bad look.

XR2 & GTS is ok for a beginner. I start to pick up more speed.

I run XP12/10 in both of my street cars.
While I am a fan of Carbotech pads (I use them on my Spec Miata, and used to use them on my S2000 for track days; XP10/XP8), I cannot begin to understand why anyone would use them on a street car (unless you meant you use them only for tracking your street car).

For dedicated track pads, they work fairly well on the street, but they're not nearly as good as OEM pads for street driving.

Rylan, you should have been on XP12's. If you just called me up out of the blue and asked for a recommendation I'd say XP12 front and rear for your app. XP10's for endurance events.

The XP10's will develop plenty of bite with just the smallest amount of heat in them, 200

I'm using XP12/XP10 right now. Seems fine. But probably XP10 all around or XP10/XP8 would be fine too, for me.

I tried XR2/XR5 combo, and found that about 20 minutes into a session my brakes would just go away.

And oh yeah, might as well toss in the old standard:

If your brakes don't squeak, you got girly-man brakes! - Doug Hayashi

I just got the carbotechs on last night and they feel amazing compared to stock and the ferodo ds2500 I ran b4

They didn't seem to need any heat realy to start working so I think I'm gonna leave them on and auto-x etc on them too
