Default carbotech xp8 vs ax6

So I am currently running the xp8 pads with stock rotors. I am very very happy with the cold bite and even more happy with the amazing braking on track. Pads were properly bedded in, however some days the noise on the streets can get so aggrivating (other days they will be much quieter ) and the main killer for everyday drivin is a quick trip to town and back can have the wheels covered in dust. This sucks when you have black wheels of course.

I am thinking of switching to the ax6 for the decreased dust and noise. I don't want to fool with swapping pads and rotors when I go to track days as I usually am to pressed for time with work. How much performance on track will I be loosing going down to the ax6 pads? Is there a huge difference between noise and dust? I will only be running at my current track for one more year, after which I will be done with my military enlistment and moving back to tennessee. At my current track the fastest speed you brake from is about 120mph.

thanks for any help in advance! I should also note I am using oem rotors.

Definitely don't switch to AX6s if your goal is to reduce dusting and squealing -- AX6s do both, a lot.

Having said that, you're describing the as-of-yet undiscovered holy grail of S2000 brake pads -- a pad that's track-worthy yet doesn't squeal or dust. Brake fade on track, dusting and squealing, or changing brake pads for track days: choose one.

I've always been able to get my brakes nearly silent with proper bedding, including XP10 and XP12. Are you fading the pads when you're bedding them?

True story lol. Guess I will deal with it haha. I'm pretty sure the faded when bedded. They are amazing on track with zero fade. But I don't have good tires yet either. They squeal none when real hot of course. I bedded them on old rotors. Same rotors I'm still using bc they had been turned a few thousand before I installed the pads. I know when I did the bed at night I could see sparks fly out of my wheels lol. Talk about cool

You guys should be able to eliminate the cold squealing if they're bedded. It should never be more than barely audible, rather than the banshee wail.

They only seem to make noise coming to slow stops. Like pulling up to the gate on base to show id. The guards must hate it lol. I wouldn't even call it a squeel so much as I would call it a screech. As hot as I got them at the track day the day after I bedded them I don't see how they still make noise. And it seems to come and go. It's just hard to find a place for me to bed them on the streets it seems like.

In my experience (and to my understanding), if you fade the pads as part of the bedding process, they will stop making the screech period. When I bed my pads, I keep going until I get just a hint of fade.

As an observation to what psycoazn says....I've been around race cars on and off my whole life, both open wheel and sports cars, ether going to races or working them, and most of the race cars have pretty quiet brakes, maybe a little squeal, but not much. Certainly not as much as some street cars with race pads I've heard. And I guess you can be sure that the race teams bed the brakes exactly correctly of course.
