If we have to hit what's the best way them frontal or sideways

Straight ahead. More metal to crumple and absorb energy and that's what cars are designed to withstand. If you have airbags they will help with a straight ahead crash too. HANS devices are most effective in straight ahead impacts. If you attempt to slide in sideways you run the risk of rollover which opens a whole new can of worms like leaking fuel tanks and trouble egressing.

For sure straight. The only reason to hit sideways is if you can glance off a structure, but that's iffy.

I ran Russell brake lines on my dragster years ago, do they still make good quality brake lines today?

From what I've seen, most SS brake lines these days are good. All manufacturers have to have DOT certification in order to call their lines DOT legal. I have run russell lines before with no issue. The ones I ran weren't teflon coated, which prompted me to change them to some that were for piece of mind. I have heard the new Russell lines are Teflon coated, but have not experienced them myself.

Rob the ss line failure you mentioned in your link was on a stock caliper or another caliper?
