CMP or Roebling Road?
This is going to be my first time on a track, are there any opinions as to which would be better? I'm planning to try and sign up for an HDPE in October. One is run by Turn One Motorsports and the other is by Seat-Time. Any opinions on which runs a better event? Better instructors?
Roebling is a more forgiving track for beginners and has just been repaved. CMP is a blast, but it's a much more technical track. The both are good groups to run with, but I think you will get more track time at Roebling. Instructor quaility is about the same.
I would say go to Seat-Time. That is where I got started. They have a good group of instructors. I am going to be at that event in Oct. Shoot me a PM if you decide to go. If you have any specific questions about Seat-Time let me know. You will end up doing both. Highlander is right about Roebling being more forgiving. Both are fun in different ways.
I've been to both CMP and Roebling working on 125 shifter karts. Roebling should be much nicer repaved, it was pretty abrasive. The huge front straight can be pretty fun too. You'll like driving at both.
Roebling would be my choice if you've never done a HPDE.

As a beginner myself (who has been to both CMP and Roebling), I agree that Roebling is the more forgiving track.
As for Turn One vs. Seat-Time, both run their events well and the format and schedule for their track days is more or less identical, as I recall. That is, there's really not much to differentiate between on that front.
So, another vote for Roebling (although it might be a longer drive from Raleigh, depending on where exactly you are).
P.S. One thing to keep in mind for both tracks, but particularly for Roebling: the advanced guys will probably go on first and they will be flying, which can be a bit intimidating. But don't worry, the DE groups will run much slower and your instructor will bring you along at your own pace.

I've not been to CMP, but enjoy Roebling a lot. It has generous runoff (except for turn 9), and the flowing nature of the track keeps you thinking ahead.
Another alternative for track time is Chin Motorsports. We'll be at Roebling on November 18 and 19 (Saturday and Sunday). Two days of track fun for under $300! It's a great deal with small run groups and personalized instruction (+$65 if you are a novice)
