coilover question for the track gurus
Hey guys lately i have been doing some research and digging through the forum but cannot come to a final answer because i am reading and finding mix things.
Here is what i want to know i have $2500 put aside for coilovers and i am leaning towards the kw v3s and how do i plan to use them?
Since my car is a daily i prefer close to stock ride and maybe once every couple of months i would like to do alittle autoX, nothing major, not looking for an all out track race car. Plus i heard that tein's, bc's, buddy clubs, megan's would be junk on the track.
80% daily
20% track
can anyone help? thanks guys

Daily driver, and 1 auto x every 8 weeks. That's like 99% street, 1% auto-x, not track. Try the car stock first. If nothing else you will be happy 99% of the time.
If you enjoy auto-x, and increase frequency of attendance, then revisit suspension later. That's what I recommend.

^^ what he said. If you want something that can look good and still be comfortable while adding a bit of performance you can spend less than that and use the rest on something else. Maybe a set of koni yellows with swift spec R's or CR shocks with swift spec R's for that little drop.

ok ill revised that i do prefer height adjusting because i will be running wider front fenders and flares on the rear anything but stock and my stocks are pretty sure blown previous owner installed ebay springs on them and they feel like poop now so stock struts and aftermarket springs are out of the question.
which would you guys prefer ohlins r&t or the kw v3s coilovers? unless there a few other brands i should look into.
I would recommend the Ohlins over the KW's because of the external reservoir. If you decide at some point to compete with an organization like NASA (you never know where life will take you), you'd take extra points for the external reservoir. AST 4150 would be another option in your price range which does not have an external reservoir like the KW's.

If you have no clue about suspension tuning, have no time to learn about it, and/or are still developing quite a bit as a driver, get the Ohlins. You'll probably find that it's much easier to tune to the sweet spot.
I'd say spend the 2500$ on track days with NASA in your region or whatever local clubs you have. Get fast on stock shocks and good street tires (RS3, Z2 star specs, etc) and go from there. If you want to adjust ride height you can pickup some GC's for cheap used in the R&C forums and go from there.
