Yeah I don't know what the heck I was thinking. Figured it out right after I did posted it Been up all night drinking. I deleted it but I'm still looking into it. For some reason it just doesn't make sense but now I guess I know why.
the system you were thinking is actually being used by Super GT this year

they make teams that receive points to add 2kg x points weight for first 6 rounds and 1kg x points weight for 7~8th rounds, and no weight for final round

so far i haven't seen any team can win twice in a row nor any team can finish podium every race

it is a possible solution to slow down front runners and make an event looks competitive (fun to participate and watch)

I think the PAX system will be interesting. Rob, I understand where you're coming from, but I think you're finding more fault with the way the points are assigned than the idea of PAX. The way I understand it, the very purpose of assigning points to mods were so that 1 point from X mod would produce the exact same performance advantage as 1 point from Y mod at Buttonwillow 13CW. Or, are you arguing that there are some confounding factors when different combinations of modifications are used together, such that they have a synergistic or interference effect?

I am pretty amazed at these prizes and the level of organization. Great job, guys!

^ I don't know any more I'm so damn confused right now cause I had my mind all wrapped around the wrong line of thought for a while.

I need to get a sheet of paper and work up an equation that I think is more fitting. I can tell you that, no matter what the case is, I feel bad for those drivers that want to run the fastest lap of their class but will inevitably have to make a conscious decision that their podium finish and prize will most likely be given to a car / driver who has not archived as low of a lap time. Is a driver who clocks a 2:08 in a stock S2000 truly on the same level playing field as a driver that clocks a 1:58 but has 11 PAX seconds added to his time slip? Could they clock matching times if they trades cars for a session? Since this has turned form a contest of time into a contest of skill......I don't know. All I know is I like to go fast and only want to go faster

That leaves only unlimited class drivers will be the only ones without any worries of losing the podium. Its straight forward...fastest lap wins. Period. Perfect for me.

^ Agreed Ed! The results are much closer to what the skill level of the drivers are (or at least I that's what the system tells us).

You guys have been doing a great job...I only wish I was able to compete and have a bigger role. Motor will be back in the car next week and I'm hoping to shake it down soon. I think it will be a real unlimited class contender.

[QUOTE=rob.ok,Jun 19 2009, 11:03 AM] Seriously...I should go to bed...I'm confused now and out of booze

I still think that the 1 to 1 scale is still off and will hurt drivers with more points than it should.

I haven't checked the validity of these numbers, but if they are correct, sounds about right...Emilo is known for completely maxing out his lightly modded S2K and regularly embarrassing the Mod Class participants.
check my corrected standing from rob's, i think the PAX isn't bad at all, even tho i won't make any of those events, but looking forward to see some HOT BATTLES!!

I think that I may be able to do the August 2nd event. I'll check back to see when sign-ups are available.
