Default CR lip or Aftermarket W/ "canards"

Hi all,
In the interest of reducing front lift, do you guys think the CR's lip is the best way to go, or would an aftermarket (APR, etc) lip with the "canards" be just as good? Thanks!

I have the CR lip on my AP2 now, but havent had a chance to track it yet since adding it. ( winter here )

Being that All Honda Aero parts are windtunnel tested, I have faith it should do ok though. Time will tell.

It is really hard to say by just eyeing the designs.

I personally would go with the splitter.

Eyeing the designs gives some important clues.

I don't think canards will help much on this car. Canards are to get the air to go up and not fall under the car, but the tunnels on the sides of the S2000 are pretty efficient. On the CR lip the sides should actually generate a little downforce directly, maybe 20-30 pounds (at 100-120 mph) which isn't bad. The CR lip also has a bit of a splitter design in the middle which will generate more downforce.

The APR "air dam" is really going to have the same function as a splitter and not an air dam. I think you will see more downforce from the APR air dam then the CR lip. A splitter is another option and it doesn't need to go to far out to get 95% of the benefit. 75mm is my rough calculation for something on the order of 80 pounds of downforce.

You might be right but I'm curious as to how you were able to come up with actual numbers.

Just looking at the surface area and the angle then comparing to other known downforces given by surfaces tested by CFD or airtunnel. You could widen the band to 15-40 if you would like... The point is, they produce very little downforce.

I think they tried very hard to give the front as much downforce as possible without doing anything too crazy like adding a 75mm splitter, which is quite aggressive looking and damage prone or adding a significant air dam which would make ground clearance an issue.
