How are you guys mounting dataloggers? I'd like to do it in the least permanent manner possible. All the wiring is already one and tucked, but I'd like to avoid drilling into the floor if possible.

tentative positioning is under the passenger seat for ease of access to the card, but I've considered putting it in the gap where the softtop typically goes...

Thanks!

I used to have it velcro-ed to the passenger carpet, but it started to wear off so now I just kind of leave the logger on the passenger floor lol. My display is velcro-ed onto my radio door... It can be as neat as I want it to be with the wires, although nowadays I remove it when I'm not at the track...

edit: I have a G2X btw...

I was thinking about that, but wasn't sure if Velcro would stick to the carpet...

The "hook" stuff that came on it doesn't really stick to mine =\

It did stick for a while, but I guess the velcro took its toll after all the debris I get from spinning out

In all honesty, I don't think it would bounce around much even if you just leave it on the floor...

I've seen a G2X mounted (small bolts) to a heavy rubber floor mat and the power is setup for the cigarette lighter on a switch (radio shack). Seems to works pretty well. Though the odd time you need to lift the GPS antenna out and velcro/tape it somewhere higher.

I used to mount my DL in the glovebox using plastic velcro on the modifry's glovebox organizer in my street car.

I stuck mine where the spare tire goes. Clean the area really well first or the velcro won't stick. I never use my datalogger and have the spare tire in at the same time. I get power from the harness that feeds the trunk release button.

The GPS antenna goes on the little panel between the trunk lid and the soft top.

I mounted my G2X to a thick plastic sheet and bolted the plastic to the spare tire mounting boss. I use a thumb knob so it can be installed and removed with no tools. I prefer to use a solid mount due to the accelerometers onboard.

That's exactly what I'm looking for; I'd like to be able to see how many G's I'm doing under braking and turning.

To clarify: You'll still see braking and cornering Gs when the unit is mounted with velcro. You'll miss the high-frequency vibrations but that doesn't really matter with most units reading at 10 Hz anyway. Race Technology recommends some kind of suspension (like velcro) to protect the logger from higher frequencies.

I was going to go with a bolt-in solution on the spare tire boss but the velcro was so much easier - the last-minute rush got me! If you do go with a bolt-on solution make sure there's something to prevent the plate from spinning if the bolt loosens. That would suck if it spun 90 degrees as you wouldn't know unless you opened your trunk between runs/laps. A day's worth of data would be nearly useless in that case.
