Default davepk, rylan, etc, how heavy is interior?

I couldn't find any real ball park #'s by searching, but have any of you who completely stripped your interior weigh how much savings did stripping interior gained you?

I know race bucket seats save 15lb a seat roughly, but what about all carpet, sound deadning, dash and rest of interior will save you?

i already gutted the softtop+motor and ordered seats, just want to know how many lbs i'll gain from additional stripping of interior.

thanks

The dash itself, door panels, etc. aren't really that heavy. I think the real weight gets saved in the crap BEHIND all that... The A/C, heater core, ventilation system window glass, window motors, etc.

edit: But yeah, every little bit helps. I remember Prolene had his car down to 2400 lbs! Oh yeah, almost forgot - I think the carpet is pretty heavy.

Somewhere around here is a list of the weight of stuff Ry and I removed in prep for OTC '03.

For instance, there is a heavy thick rubber mat that sits against the firewall.

~3-400lbs but then you need to add a rollbar and safety equpt.

I got my car to 2300 even w/ no top or roll bars,

To put that in perspective, my Miata with welded in rollbar, hardtop, A/C and full interior weighs less than 2,200 lbs.

How heavy are the stock rollbar setup? Also 300-400lb?? that sounds like a lot, can you give a rough estimate which items in particular are heaviest?

Meaning if the dash only weigh 5lb-10lb, then i rather keep it on, but if there are parts thats 20lb+ then thats more likely to be removed.

thanks

heavy stuff:

- windows
- carpet, padding, and rubber matting
- HVAC
- airbags
- seats
- driver

most of the interior panels are light.

My car is not street legal...not sure where you are going with your plan.....

my car with me in it is just under 2600lbs if the gas tank is empty.... with suit and helmet I am about 180lbs.... so My car is basicaly 2420 empty....

that is with full rollcage (with nascar bars on the drivers side) and hardtop..I still have my stock header, stock battery, the airpump (not even sure what it does) have all original door reinforcements still in place and have both front and back bumper beams still in place..... so in theory I could probably drop another 80lbs if i really tried....car wouldn't do so well if in an accident, but it would be light.

Like everyone else posted....the heater core, a/c compressor off the engine is heavy (plus drag on the belts), there is a side to side reinforcement piece behind the seats that is probably 15-20lbs.....that mat that is between the dash and the fire wall is 15lbs or so...... obvioius things... windows, radio, airbags, exhaust, etc..... if you followed all the wires, i would bet you could chop out 25lbs of wiring if you wanted.... i haven't.... i need my car to be at 2600lbs with me in it....
