Pretty sure Flashpro allows you to specify the amount revs have to drop before power comes back on after hitting the limiter. You can set it to just ride the limit rather than drop at all.

OK, so the DBW AP2 has a soft and hard limiter. Soft is the normal one where it just pulls timing so it's very soft but hard limiter it pulls fuel all the way so it feels like it falls on its face. The hard limiter is if it makes it up to 8700rpm or so, which will sometimes happen if you're going down a hill or you just have a really good head of steam or sometimes just randomly for no good reason it makes it past the soft limiter and into the hard limiter.

Bottom line, yes, it will semi-randomly do that. I highly recommend getting a hondata if you're not trying to stay in stock class as this completely fixes it. 8500rpm is the standard people have been running for years. You can even tune the timing maps to pull timing as you get closer to limiter and make the recover rpm really close to the limit rpm to make the limiter ultra soft - at one point I made it basically seem like constant throttle holding exactly 8500 rpm.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. That is what I was really looking for. Eventually, I'd love to do STR mods. Auto-x classing aside, that is how i'd want to mod my car. Will probably take me a few years to get there though.

The stock rev limiter will stop engine acceleration at the rev limit. It doesn't drop the rpm below the limiter. A custom limiter can "soften" the limit by beginning to reduce engine power as you approach the limit but this slows down acceleration and makes us slower on the track--unless we're having to go slower through a corner to keep the abrupt limiter from breaking traction. Typically we'd be faster with only a "hard" limiter that lets us get to the limit quicker and then hold us at the limit.
