I love it when people ask questions and then blow everyone off when they get answers. No matter what is said to him, no matter how well supported, he will believe what he already believed. Why does such a person even ask questions?

I guess we'll have to wait and see after nationals when Darren comes in somewhere in the top five or ten (or first) -- then what will it be? The drivers that Darren beat are like the east coast component of the S2000's version of "Seal Team Six." ... I mean riff raff with little guns and no training or experience... my bad...

LOL

lol, exactly my thoughts. After seeing his replies I'm pretty sure when he says he wants a place where the NB is "competitive", he actually means a place where it's an certain uncontested overdog like it was in CS up through 2005.

If only he were coming to nationals, then we could all bring little toy guns and "Team Riff Raff" stickers and it would make me laugh at least....

I had a great time at Dixie Nationals and met alot of nice folks. Thanks to everyone that answered all of my annoying setup questions, I appreciate it and it'll help me going forward with modifications to my car.

I did weigh my car on Saturday, just to see where I was in basically stock condition. The car weighed 2750#, with slightly more weight on the fronts, and most on the right front by 15# or so, but I can't remember the exact number.

2006
Hankooks
TSW Interlagos wheels
Gendron front bar, 0.25" wall
no rear bar
1/2 tank
spare and trunk tool insert removed
Otherwise stock

I am a "local" riff raff. Except that I am not local. I truly meet that definition all jokes aside, so I am OK with you al criticizing my driving and will be the first to throw out a video. First time in the car after getting Moton CS, Springs, camber, and the whole list of stuff, so I was actually not upset with my 16/25 or so finish. It was a great time, and I only wish I could have seen other people drive to learn from them a little.

I am also "local riff raff". I've got my videos and datalogs below, as well as some comments based on what I think happened. Note the datalogs come from my Hondata Flashpro, I would be willing to show others how to do this.
I'd love to get comments from others, as that's the only way to improve. I'll embarrass myself on the interwebs to get better.

The car was certainly capable of getting a trophy. The driver could have been top 10 with a better Saturday, if not higher. Not bad at all with this group of talent and car prep. This class is excellent at keeping you honest and on your toes. I ended up 14th, beating some excellent drivers, and much better prepped cars.

Saturday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e9Y7C8e_AY
8 sec-I lifted too much for this corner, should have held it flat to the entry, lifted to get it to rotate, then straight back into throttle. This is back to my problem of having too little faith in the car. Car is still greater than driver.
12 sec-Slalom was entered maybe too slow, which is why I got back into the throttle, as opposed to maintaining a constant speed
15 sec-I feel like I exited the slalom pretty well, maybe a touch late on the throttle
18 sec-I think overall this section went pretty well
26 sec-I feel like this section went pretty well. Was able to get late on the appropriate cones and get the car positioned well for the U turn
32 sec-I may have been able to enter this a bit faster, trail brake a bit more. This would have prevented the touching of throttle mid corner. I was able to exit the U pretty much exactly where I wanted to be, which was way late on the final cone to setup for the next section.
43 sec-Up to this section I think it went pretty well. Close to cones, nice late apexes, smooth.
44 sec-I ended up too far right, I needed to be closer to those three cones on the left to enter the large chiacgo box at a better angle
47 sec-This mistake followed to here, where I had to put over a half-turn of wheel into the car to get it back where I wanted it. My co-driver had this section perfectly, and is where he picked up time on me that he had lost earlier. He had less that ¼ turn of wheel at this point, I was scrubbing a significant amount of speed here
50 sec-This corner went well. Got the front end to stick and the rear to rotate around the cone real well. This was an important cone to get right, if you drove at it you were screwed, you needed to be way late on it.
53 sec-The car went sideways here, and this slide transitioned to the finish. I ended up way late on what was essentially a slalom, costing huge amounts of time
56 sec-The tires were still upset at this point, so when I got on the throttle it went sideways (quite a lot). The nature of the Hankooks is once they let go, its hard to get them back. This was apparent in this slide. The good news is I didn’t spin it, and my balls are apparently quite large, as I hit 100% throttle with a full wheel of opposite lock, bad news is it was probably pretty slow.

Sunday:

22 sec-I think it went pretty well up to this point. Eyes up were hugely important
24 sec-I may have gone too hot into this section, and ended up getting on the throttle late. I was too close to the cone on the right with the single pointer. This may have been because this was the most speed I had had in the car compared to my prior runs.
28 sec-I lifted too much right before this, on a prior run I had bounced the rev limiter pretty hard. I lost a touch of time here
40 sec-I lifted WAY too early for the Dixie bump. The car ended up coasting. Lost quite a bit of time here
46 sec-Entered the slalom beautifully. I’m so happy with how the front end planted there.
48 sec-I got late on the slalom, which lead to coneage. Whoops.
