If you buy 4x8 sheets, exterior grade glue is used so it's very durable in terms of standing up to the elements. If you sand, prime and paint there should be no problems. It would likely last a very long time without doing anything to it.
In san diego, frost Hardware sells a 4x8 sheet for about $40 and you can do 2 spliters.

The splitter installs in 30 seconds and is adjustable in height 2", and also in angle a considerable amount. The plates on the chassis install at the top with the M6 bolts that hold the airbag sensors, and an M8 bolt that I drilled into the side of the lower Radiator support. So far it's held up very well, even through some muddy Buttonwillow offs.
Hope this aids you in your design.

nice brackets indeed!

Are you supporting it in the front at all? Or just using the strength of the plywood to keep it from flexing/pulling down?

No support at the front. I figure the aero forces won't be great enough to require anything up there. I'm hoping if it does fail that it pulls through the plywood clean and leaves the brackets more or less intact and doesn't take any of the rest of the car with it.

DavidNYC...
The brackets are based on the PCI splitter mounts for Civics and Integras, infact the lower bracket is genuine PCI leftovers from a friends kit.

RobRob...
The stock undertray is reinstalled and unmodified after the height and angle of the splitter is set. Unseen in the photos is the tethered quick release pin that installs at the rear hole to affix the splitter. I apologize for not having photos of this. If its still a hot topic I'll take some when I'm back intown.

Boyguan...
Everything I did to make those brackets was with simple hand held 18V DeWalt power tools.

I love your work on this and if you'd be willing to write up a how-to I'll post it with your byline. I want to do this for my splitter so the more pix the better. Thanks in advance.

Just got confirmation on the shipping of my WASP splitter.

Don't have the time or detail to do my own DIY splitter. Lol.

You made a good choice picking the WASP splitter, I've got one and the quality is excellent.
