drag racing this weekend
hey guys, im new to drag racing, just did some dumb sh*t in the industrial parks and freeway runs, but never actually got it on a track. but i finally got a chance to run it down the quarter mile and needed some info about my S2K when it comes to the 1320.
ive heard that our stock differentials are relatively weak and that alot of people have broken theirs while performing a launch soooo......my questions are
what do most of you launch at?
what rpm works well with our cars?
at what launch rpm have some of you broken your diffs at?
any input would be very helpful, thanks in advance.
oh and i have a basically stock 2005 with very minor tweeks.

You should have bought yourself a Ford Mustang. The S2K is not made for drag racing and may well be damaged being driven as such. Below is what the S2K is made to do.

Wise advice above. Except for zoomkat. No street cars are "made for the 1/4." Ignore the naysayers and have some fun.
DO NOT BOG! We're serious. Spin the motor all you want, much less harmful than hooking up hard. Fastest time involves some spinning to keep the motor on boil anyway. How high to rev depends on track prep. Start higher (say 6K) and work your way down. A stock S2K 60' under 2.2 seconds isn't bad (2.0 is awesome).
Shift right at the rev limiter.

thanks alot for the replys guys. and yea i know that draging isnt anywhere near the S's nature. does anyone know where i can get a diff that will handle track abuse tho? should i change the entire unit? (housing and gears?)
thanks again.
oh and by the way arent most mustangs slower in the 1320 anyway?lol even with the 5.0

I've taken my s to the dragstrip a coupel times. launch it around 6500-7500 depending upon how the track is. and take the advice of everyone above... DO NOT BOG! if you launch too low you're gonna break it, launching at higher rpms will break the tires loose, and that will take the stress off the diff. also, make sure to get off the clutch as quickly as possible, otherwise you'll burn it up.
good luck with it! and have fun!
hopefully you'll break into 13's.
