Default Driftbox

I've been eyeballing entry level/budget GPS based data logger/lap timing solutions. Does anybody have an opinion on the Driftbox?

Don't have an opinion, on the Driftbox. If you don't want that drifting feature, want a cheap GPS datalogger and don't need a dash display look at this:

http://traqmate.com/
S/w is user friendly. Basic package without dash display is cheaper. Has extra inputs for other sensors.

I have one of these:

Neat dash, s/w is not pretty and the UI is just OK, but has more professional car setup database and custom math channels. Already has ready to install sensor accessories, but a little expensive.

Thanks for the input Fongu. I don't really care about the drifting features as this is for track lapping, but the "all in one unit" aspects of the Driftbox are appealing for quickly swapping from car to car (I'd love to share it with my friends), and the driftbox is a bit less expensive than the other solutions you point out.

I'm just hoping to find somebody who says they've used the unit and either like it or don't.

Thanks.

Traqmate basic is $700 US. The Driftbox is 465 pounds which is $860 US, that's not including any import duty/customs charges. Also, the shipping from the UK accross the Atlantic is going to be more expensive.

Also any of these dataloggers can be easy to move from car to car as long as you don't start wiring in extra sensors.

No experience with the Driftbox, sorry. I also have the G2X. I like it. I thought it was worth the $1000 or so that I paid for it.

With any of these systems, I highly advise that you get and install the demo software packages that they should have. Make sure you can use the software before you buy the hardware.

hi every one..i own a driftbox for 3-4 months now and i found it very easy to use it and incritiple accurated..i dont used it for the drifting ..u can measure lap time ..you can have up to six sectors..the data logger includes all that u want to know(radius of a turn, lateral g-force,speed,time..etc)..the big advantage is that u can put it in any car and compare your times..you can have stopping distance, accelaration 0-100.40-70,70-120 anything...its fullfill my expectations..satellites are so accurated...
