Default effect of no rear toe?

reading the auto-x alignment faq and other posts it sounds like a bad idea to run zero rear toe in

so what are the effects?

I've got 1/8" total atm and maxxed out -camber and the car feels great,
if I could save some tire wear by running no rear toe that would good

I'd imagine sliding in your future.

hehe I mean I'm no great driver but I'm pretty quick with the opposite lock so would it be that bad?

or is it just annoying having to correct all the time instead of going fast?

We actually run a touch of toe out in the rear. We've run zero toe as well. But we have a stiff front bar, very wide rear tires, and a clutch-type differential.

I would be careful if you're running non-staggered without rear toe in. Might be a handful.

I have run the non-staggered 245/245 setup on my AP2 for autocross with no rear toe and the Gendron 1.25" solid front swaybar. The car was nicely balanced, but just a little bit touchy. It's quite stable with the same alignment and 245/275 tires.

The OP has an AP1. Would you expect it to be a little more touchy?

Yes, an AP1 will probably be more touchy. Steve Wynveen ran a larger diameter custom swaybar with the 245/245 setup on his AP1.

Did he run with no toe?

well with zero toe the rear will be quite unstable during high speed cornering.

I did my last track day at ButtonWillow with no toe in the rear and the rear was definitely a handful. It wasn't too bad but when pushing it really hard, it was easier to lose control in the tight sections. The high speed corners were actually really solid but it was the fast corners that felt really loose.
