It's a common problem with S2000s. The plugs wiggle loose and then you get combustion up the coil pack.

Suxor. I think retorquing spark plugs should be on the list of things to do after track days (at the same time as changing oil).

So 3 out of 4 plugs loosened up at the same time? OP, did you have the plugs out recently?

No, I did not have plugs out. Had 1.5 track days on car prior to this one. Plugs were not loose that you could undo them by hand but they were not very tight either. I would say all 4 were about same but 2 of them started to seize after 2-3 turns out.

I've never had a plug back out once it is properly torqued.

The crazy part is i repair this issue at least 2x a month on honda v6's and occasionaly on k series engines. Honda doesnt use a high enough torque amount on plugs straight out the factory. Not that it directly relates to your issue. Just venting my frustration with honda. Haha.

If and when you get the plugs out you can use special timeserts/helicoils to repair the holes. So you dont have to junk the head.

Yea, will fix motor when I get to it. I just bought 03 totaled for $3k since motor runs good. It was 1 mile from my house />
So, what are common problems and fixes so I can do it before motor goes in. I know for oil pan. Is there anything else to hopefully prevent this in future.

Well, since you're in there, check out the other thread...

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/941...check-replace/

Since it's an 03 F20C I would change the banjo oil bolts, and possibly upgrade your retainers/valve springs to at least AP2 or SuperTech (not sure about SuperTech though. I ended up doing it, probably unnecessarily on my F22C).

Definitely baffle your oil pan.

Late model 02 is when banjo bolts were updated so 03 is definitely fine, no need to update.

Do the AP2 retainers though (intake side only).
