yeah they typically look like that. most of the time i have to chisel/dremel the coil out just to get to the plug. some times i even have to dremel the plug out, then pull a vacuum on the cylinder to extract the debris, retap and timsert the hole. boroscope and leakdown check for damage. yeah its a bitch needless to say. luckily to date i have only had 1 major issue where the plug broke and took a chunk out of the piston before they made it to the dealer. they got a new engine.

I have been working on motorcycle engines my whole life, never seen anything like it, not even on Honda bikes .

I'm curious about what kind of plugs you were running?

^^^ NGK only. Stick with OEM. Had another fellow S2k Challenge member on here blow his motor running Platinum Plugs from Bosch. The plug got loose and disintegrated and went into the #4 piston... that was the end of that motor.

I thought it sounded like rod knock but this morning I found different issue. One of the coils was destroyed and 2 spark plugs I can't even get out. Looks like some serious detonation going on inside the motor. Motor is stock and was running 91 pump gas. Anybody had something like this happen?

happened to me before.. AP1 motor. 123k miles. stock coils with oem plugs. pretty much engine is done. the valves are going to be messed up on those coils... piston for sure will have damage and scars on the walls.

trying to find my coil pack pix.
