Now that we’ve prepared for our first track day, we’re going to start to break down what to do when you go out on track for the very first time

Finding the "line" has always felt like searching for Atlantis, I would say, don't rediscover the wheel that some one already did, especially when you don't know what "round" feels like. Best thing to do, is find a good driver, in a similarly setup car at the track you are going to drive on youtube and repeatedly watch the video. Count the gears, identify (by sound when he's on the gas, holding steady and braking), simplify track placement by predetermining if you are going to be left, center or right on the track.

Track driving is about being consistent like a metronome and then dealing with the variables you can't control. Other drivers and grip.
