Thumbs up Fire Extinguisher Mounting

So, I've recently acquired a handheld 3.5# (not much bigger than a 2.5#, same diameter I believe) Halon extinguisher, how I need to mount somewhere/somehow in the cabin. Anyone care to share their solutions/suggestions?

On edit: just to clarify, my interior is stock...

The passenger cargo net works fine for me with easy reach and removal without drilling holes into the cabin floor. I didn't use to have anything to put in there anyway and it definitely doesn't move around on the track.

Many clubs that require a FE don't allow it to be "loose" -- that means the mount needs to be a solid mount. Some even require that the bracket and construction be entirely metal.

Try this:

- mount a piece of aluminium stock to the passenger seat front mounting bolts (you may need longer bolts)

- bend the aluminium sheet so that the FE will mount flat

- mount the FE bracket to the sheet

(Okay - the order of install is messed up, but you should get the idea)

Make sense?

I've used a similar mount in other cars. It's safe.

SSS01, I considered that briefly, but you've created a seriously dangerous projectile in case of a collision.

rzrsedg, That's what I've been thinking about, but that passenger floor area is so full of bends, I was hoping someone already produced a mounting bracket

Something along these lines:

Anyone seen such a beast for the S?

I haven't seen one specifically for the S, But I don't think it would be to difficult to make. There is plenty of room in front of the drivers seat. You could build something similar out of steel or aluminium from Home Depot/Lowes Etc.
