Default first time at the track last nite....

and I need more practice haha. My very first run was the best which was a 14.6 which I know is still terrible but I think I let off the gass before the 1/4 ended. The other 2 runs I did were even worse because I missed second in one and bogged real bad the other. I really need to practice my launches I was dropping it at aaround 6500-7500 which caused me to spin a lot off the line. I didnt drop my tire pressure at all.

My 60 foots were between 2.1 and 2.3 and I was trapping around 95-98 mph

My cars an 00 which a cold air, test pipe, comptech catback, ricks pullies, 4.77 gears and I lowered my vtec to 5700. I put down 209/148 at the wheels on the dyno.

Any tips you guys have for me will be greatly appriciated since I'm probably going back in 2 weeks.

Thanks
Mike

I was there with Chillout and ran almost identical times...14.53 and 14.58 with a previous best another night of 14.4.

Mike, was your 3rd run on the left lane? I got 1 run on that lane and bogged despite launching the same as the right lane in which I would spin like crazy.

I think I might go back to the clutch slip launch since the sidestep's netted a worse E/T, 60' and trap speed.

Here's a breakdown of my runs

1st run. Right lane, tire pressure at 32 psi
14.53 @ 96 with a 2.3 60'
Launched at 6500 and spun pretty badly. Caught traction at 6700 and off I went. It felt like a great run but the time says otherwise.

2nd run. Left lane, tire pressure at 25 psi
15.1 @ 93 with a 2.2 60'
Launched at 6500 and caught very good traction, but then missed 2nd gear

3rd run. Right lane, tire pressure at 25 psi
14.57 @ 96 with a 2.3 60'
Launched at 6500 and still spun badly, despite the lower tire pressure. Again this run felt good but the time indicates otherwise.

I think what happened is that the right lane was very poorly prepped and had I given it a 4th run I would have gone back over to the left lane and launched around 7k. This should have given me a 2.1 ish 60' and assuming I hit all gears maybe a 14.3 or so.

I think Im gonna try dropping the clutch at like 6000 and lowering my tire pressure or lowering the tire pressure and featehring off the clutch at around 6500-7000.... reguardless I need more runs and practice... The second gear fk ups were killing me yesterday

Do you have the factory shift knob?

I have switched to the Voodoo and considered putting the stock one back on for track days. Shifting is more precise with the stock one being that it is smaller.

The voodoo one feels better for normal driving, but I tend to miss 2nd more often than I did with the stock one.

BTW, when I was slipping the clutch I was getting no tire spin, so lowering the pressure might not be necessary.

Mid 14's with boltons and gears? You must be really high elevation or high humidity. Try lowering your tire pressure to 20 or so, you should be able to cut 2.0's on a decent street tire.

Elevation at this track is ~1000 ft. Humidity wasn't too bad last night.
