That wasn't the point of posting the pictures, I don't care if they were rust brown and pink. How they look is no concern of mine. I'm looking for an upper-entry/mid-level coilover that strays from the typical TEIN, KW, Bilstein.

I am only concerned with how they perform, or are perceived to perform, by people who have used them. I currently have some dead shocks, which is a convenient excuse to dive into some coilovers. I called them "coils" in the thread title because of spacing.

Since I'm not concerned with stance, or how pretty they luck, but rather their performance I figured this was the right place to look for some personal insight. Since this is my DD, not a track duty car per se, I AutoX (as much as I can) for fun, and plan on doing the same on the track this year. "Fun" to me is pushing myself, and my car to its limit. I'm not looking for $2500 coilovers because quite frankly at this moment in time... that kind of application is unwarranted for its current use. Is it not acceptable to race w/ applications that aren't 2G's+? Both of these units are going to run me in the ~1,500 ballpark and from my 'general' research seem to be in the market of what I'm looking to get out of my S.

Is this not acceptable?

It's borderline, but I appreciate that you're taking the high road and that the thread remains a discussion and not a slugfest.

It's kind of like asking if any of us have experience with Model X or Model Y all-season tire.

We very well might.

Why not look at a better brand then?

Namely, Bilstein in that price range.

Because I enjoy taking the road a little less traveled by, both of these units are ~1 yr old, relatively new in the suspension market. If I wanted to follow the pack I would have believed the " 3" is too big for NA " crowd, and been disapointed with whatever I bought. I however did not follow the crowd, and was very pleased with... actually being pleased with my bolt on results.

So, back to the OP. Anyone with personal experience with either of these products?

I don't see why you want to deviate from proven quality products. If it's not in his list (bilstins, KW, Koni, JRZ/Moton Penske, ohlins) then you will probably end up with the same cheap damper from Taiwan that comes in the the shocks you want and all the other tuner other than named above brands. If you just want to lower your car, get lowering springs, or coil over conversion for the oem shocks. Then you can pick custom springs, which should not be a selling point for a coilover kit because I better be able to get whatever sprig rate and length I want.

FWIW Fortune Auto has had very good results in the RL Time Attack on its Evo. Understandably these aren't going to perform like JRZ 3-Way adjustables..... and that's the point, but their on-track results can't exactly be dismissed.

Eitherway, I have come to decide I will dive into one of these products. End of story. I'm not looking for sway, just personal experience.

Can we keep the thread to that?

The reason not to deviate is performance. It's not because we all drank the coolaid, it's because of hard work and tuning time that we give you these answers. Bottom line, if you buy from a new vender you are getting the same crappy dampers that the other not as new venders are selling. Almost no other brand my on my list can even service the dampers thy sell, because they have no idea what they are doing and are only out to make a buck off of the uninformed.

You should ask this question in the suspension sub forum.

Well since the suspension sub forum is more concerned with how low, and 'stiff' $700 coilovers are for hardparking....

Forgive me for assuming the Racing and Competition forum, was a place to evaluate products under Racing and Competion situations, and not how iLL my S looks infront of a starbucks.

The FA's are serviced in the USA, by them. No shipping to Japan with ridiculous wait times and shipping costs. The fact that they even supply a easily accessible dyno on their product page, says a bit about them as a company and their product. (No I'm not usuing that as justification, or a selling point.... just an observation)

Regardless we're just going to go in circles. You seem to think the suspension game has been nailed by the aforementioned companies because they've been around for a long time, and a new product simply can't be good. Fair enough.

Since you have no experience with either of these products Robinson, we might as well part our ways in this thread.

For my $1500, I'd go with something proven to perform and be reliable. That price range means used KW v3's, new koni/ground controls, or new Bilsteins. I would not gamble with that much money on an unproven suspension. If you want to do something less mainstream, the HKS hypermax suspension was reviewed quite favorably a while back. In the same boat a couple of years ago, I bought a set of koni yellows that had been converted to double-adjustable.
