Default Front bumper and Splitter combo for track

I have an AP1 that I track and compete in RTA E class. I am currently looking into changing the stock front bumper to an AP2 bumper with a CR lip and a 3in splitter. What I'm wondering is, what front bumpers are people using? I feel that the AP1 and AP2 will be to high and would like to see if there are any bumpers that are lower.

I don't want to lower the car anymore as its setup pretty well and TBH, the rears wont go lower and am not sure on the fronts (I have the HKS CO's).

Sounds like you are going to need something custom if you want to get the front valance lower without lowering the car. Here is a good example of this.

Great thank you, ill look into something like that. If there was a bumper that sits lower, that would be much easier.

The original N1 front bumper is significantly lower than OEM. It's also designed in a wind tunnel and optional canards are available.

Does RTA E class allow a splitter and aftermarket bumper? What can you even do? I thought E class is for street cars with no aero?

voltex is sooooooo sexy ... and is also a wind tunnel designed bumper....but is pricey

i know the knockoffs are more affordable but not sure on how well they perform aerodynamically

Lips and wings are allowed in RTA E, but splitters and diffusers are not. While aftermarket bumpers are also allowed, something like the Voltex street bumper would (should?) be forbidden because its integrated front spoiler has a flat bottom that wouldn't be considered a lip according to RTA E rules.

16-2.1 All body panels must remain factory in appearance. Only the hood, trunk/hatch, front and rear bumpers can be replaced with non OEM equipment, or aftermarket covers.
16-3.2 Aftermarket front lips may be installed. The lip may not extend beyond the nearest adjacent section of the OEM bodywork by more than 3”. A lip is defined as any non-OEM part attached only to the bottom of the bumper cover. No portion of the lip can extend rearward beyond the trailing edge of the bumper cover by more 1”. Any chassis mounting of the lip is not permitted and no additional supports connecting the chassis to the bumper cover are allowed beyond those as OEM equipped.
16-3.6 No other aerodynamic aids are allowed. This includes but is not limited to: canards, flat bottoms or other non OEM underbody panels, diffusers, spats or alterations to any body panels for aerodynamic gain.

BoostedE21, this weekend I'm going the grassroots route with my OEM AP2 bumper and APR splitter...see quick sketch below. I'm going to use 1/2" diameter PVC cut to 1" length as a spacer at each splitter attachment bolt to get it lower to the ground (from 5" down to 4"...SCCA allows min 3" for my class). Will mount the splitter to the OEM AP2 bumper (with spacers in between) using M6x30 bolts and a spring nut over new holes drilled in the lower bumper bottom "flange". Will cut-to-fit a length of 2"x2" aluminum angle that acts as an air dam to close out the gap between splitter and bottom of bumper (attached to splitter with rivets). If all goes well I'll have it installed this weekend (will take pics and post for admiration/ridicule).

I bought an AP2 bumper and will be using a Wasp Splitter. I thought of an idea of mounting the splitter and still be within the rules for E class for RTA. I ran the idea by Paul and showed him my idea, and he agreed that the mounting method will be within the rules and will be allowed. It will still be attached to the "bumper cover". Thats all I can say for now until I actually do the work. The splitter is being made now and should be in, in about two weeks.

If there is any interest, i will update this once im done.

Please keep us updated. Without solid attachments to the chassis, I wonder if it won't flex too much at 100MPH+ sweepers (WSIR T2, BRP13CW Riverside)..
