Default Front Suspension Mount Torn Loose

I'm sure this has been done before. I have torn the brackets loose that hold the upper front suspension arm to the body. I am trying to find the best fix that would be SCCA legal for a B Stock autocross car.

I have not had any luck with our search function. I guess that part of our new "upgrade" has not been fixed yet. Does anyone lnow how to find a link to the threads discussing this problem?

Thanks

This is a fairly common problem from what I understand. The fix is to have them re-welded (and I believe there was some kind of TSB on this, making it legal).

AHA- found the thread! https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/502...-arm-brackets/

Didn't read the whole thing though...

Seam instead of spot weld. A bunch of AP1 guys do this prophylactically.

Your shop will have to bend/hammer the bracket back into place and it will have to be clamped flush against the frame when they weld it. I would take a good look at the upper a-arm bushings when they're done to make sure they didn't melt them during the welding. Doing this as a preventive measure is very easy--just clean the bracket/frame junction down to bare metal and weld the entire rear edge of the bracket then primer and black paint. This should be done for all AP1s that are going to be tracked, especially if you will run r-compound tires.

It does not even take race tires to tear the brackets. I have been running Hankook RS3 for the past couple of years.

I don't thank the AP2 has this problem. I believe Honda beefed up the welds on the AP2 mounts.

They went to seam welding on the AP2 instead of the spot welding on the AP1 brackets.
