We had the opposite problem. Plenty of funding (at least relative to other teams) from non-school sponsors, but with the average student's workload and complete lack of support from the school, no time to actually work on the car.

Unified Engineering: Every day starting at 9AM (the earliest classes are allowed to start at MIT, and really early given how late we always stayed up working our problem sets). For 2 hours M,W,F and 3 hours T,Th. Covers the topics of: Computers & Programming (new since you were there, Mike), Signals & Systems, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics & Propulsion, and Materials & Structures. My favorite is that it "technically" counts as multiple classes, so we always had problem sets due and tests/quizzes on the same day or week.
The one positive point to Unified Engineering is that after completing it, the rest of your life is pretty much coasting downhill from there.
