Permanently is a relative term. They are welded on. Mine are replacements, though -- the originals had to be cut/grinded away and then the replacements welded on instead.

u r correct,Popeye 12 gallon capacity

has a internal surge tank/fuel pump pickup, supposed to be able to run down to 0.4 gallons without loss of fuel pick up.
also electric fuel gauge probe/sender.
