Default Hankook RS-3's

The past autocross in Miami by the end of my runs the RS-3's were just way to hot. Luckily there was a puddle which helped out a little. What would you guys recommend on cooling them down between each run?

People use a pesticide sprayer filled with ice water

What temperatures were they? Did you use a probe type thermometer?

I did not use a probe, but let me tell you that you can tell when they get hot.

How about this? Fluke 561,IR Thermometer, With Contact Thermometer, To 1022F

Infared is generally not as accurate for tires. The carcass cools down VERY quickly, the probe can stick past that. If you have a friend take infared temps that is ok, but if you have to unbuckle yourself, remove helmet, etc. infared is too late to be the most useful.

Fluke brand is "baller" though. Josh

I definitely wouldn't guess that the tire would get too hot at an autocross...

we're skeptical. It was hot out and ERSCC has some decent grip at Homestead.

On a fast, co-driven car in the summer heat, lot's of RS-3 guys are pretty religious about cooling. Spraying four spots on the ground right before the car is parked and then soaking them thoroughly after the run. I don't run RS-3's so I don't know first hand though...
