Default Harness question....

Will a 6 point harness work with the stock seats? I want to get the Elda Solo I bar and a harness for some track schools but I also auto-x in B stock so I can't change out my seats. I know a 5 point won't work without modifying the stock seats which is not allowed in stock classes but it looks like a 6 point might work.

I don't understand why a 6 point might work when a 5 point won't. I'm confused. Please explain.

Well I'm not sure that's why I'm asking. From the pics I've seen the lower straps on a 6 point go out to the sides instead of straight down through the seat like in a 5 point. Is this not the case?

This is a good question, as one of the site sponsors can probably sell alot of Harnesses if we can get an answer about anchoring points ,etc. For autocrossing , it would beneficial if a 6 point could anchor back on the stock belt bolts or to a seat anchor bolt. There are some belts that will work this way on other cars, but I have to beg stupidity on the S2000, since I just got mine. A 5 pt. virtually always means drilling a hole in the floor pan to sink and eye-bolt, but it isn't an issue with a stock seat, as it does not have to go through the seat. Let us know about attachment points, include only 3 inch bellts to avoid the danger of 2 inch, and those of us that primarily want to take the car on the road courses are equally interested.

Now I'm confused. How can you install a 5 pt harness properly in the S2000 without making a hole in the stock seat? According to my sources, it is not a good idea to wrap the anti-submarine belt around the front of the seat.

I'm mounting my lap belt to stock bolt on the left side ofthe driver's compartment and to a dedicated bolt through the transmission tunnel on the right side. The Elda Engineering rollbar provides nice attachment points for the shoulder straps, but it is otherwise a difficult custom fitment.

I suggest a look into the Schroth 4 point Profi III. It provides anti-submarine protection without the need of a anti-sub belt.

Is there a way to put the anti-sub belt(s) back through the crack between seat bottom and back? Certainly not optimal but your body weight would keep the lap belt down. Just don't crank that extra belt to snugly or you'll be speaking WAY UP HERE...

You can't safely use a racing harness and the stock seats. It's really as simple as that. You need a racing seat designed to be used with harnesses.

I have a question and looking for a response wih facts if you guys have it. Is it better to run a 4 point all properly mouinted with stock seat/rollbar or the same with a 6 point option and stock seat. Are you hurting yourself by mounting it not ideally or is some anti-submarine better than none?
