Hawk HP+ good enough for HPDE?
I recently sold my RSX-S in favor of an AP2 s2000. Since both cars share the same front brakes, I still have a set of HP+ pads that I can use on the S. All I ever needed on the RSX was an ATE Superblue flush and Hp+ pads for the front. I ran stock oem brakes in the rear. This setup would last me an entire day of driving (5x 20min sessions). Brakes wouldn't fade and pedal feel stayed firm.
My question is, will this be enough for the s2000? The car is an 05. Completely bone stock as of right now. Thanks!

The S2000 uses brakes more evenly, so at a minimum I'd buy a set of rear HP+ as well. Depending on the track you're running and the ambient temperature, the HP+ may be sufficient, but a set of Carbotechs are always a good investment.
It really depends on your driving style, that also goes along with pad preference front to rear.
I'm not really a fan of HP+'s even for street use.
I ran XP8's at Buttonwillow with stock rear pads and that was a mistake, the fairly new rear pads were completely done in one day, they couldn't take the heat.
XR2's and XR5's are what I currently run for track use and I just use stock pads for street and auto x use.

i had HP+ on Miata and they were great on cold.
but on hard load they faded too quickly with complete lost of stopping - really scary stuff.
they also dust and sqeal like crazy.
but this complete fading what i hated about them.

In my experience, how much they fade varies strongly with how worn they are. At near full thickness, they hold up well, but below half they get, as you said, very scary. Does this match your experiences?
this is interesting point.
i think in my case they were like this pretty much from the beginning.
aditionla bad thing was that transition from good braking to weak breaking was pretty fast.
and then transition to "no braking" was almost immidiate.
all in all theye stop really good as long as not overheated.
but price/dust/noise/poor hot performance just don't justify them.

It's really hard to get good pad recommendations. I used what was recommended from the forum, burnt through them mid day and had to limp home missing half my sessions.
Having said that, I really like;
Pagid rs-19
Carbotech xp12/10
PFC01
In that order.
Many will tell you stock pads are fine... good luck

Id imagine that they would perform slightly worse (heat wise) on an s2000 compared to an RSX, they are about the same weight, and about the same brake size, but the S2000 builds up a bit more speed due to the better acceleration so you will be slowing from higher speeds so more heat.
I have been using HP+ year round on my S2000 for 2 years. I attend approximated 3-5 HPDE events per year and the pads have never let me down. I think they'll be fine for your first few events.
