Default HDPE at LimeRock

There is an event help by northeastNASA on Nov 11 for a High Performance Driving Education class at Lime Rock CT. My car is bone stock and I seem to have heard people say that Lime Rock will take people as long as they have a hard top and not necessarily an aftermarket rollbar. Is this true?

Ballistic, I am registered and will be in attendance at this event. As far as I know, it depends on the group you are running with. My brother owns an S2000, and he and I have done HPDE's at Summit Point and Pocono Raceway with the Schattenbaum Porsche Club of America. All he needed were arm restraints, which wrap around the arm and connect to the lap belt, so if you roll, your arms don't fly out of the car and get ripped off or crushed. ALSO, you may need to pass the "broomstick rule". Not sure if NASA will require this or not, but the PCA did for my brother. They will place a broomstick on the windshield and the roll bar. With you sitting in the car, helmet on, the top of your helmet cannot touch the broomstick. As far as I know, they are not sticklers with this rule, it is just a general rule. But, like I said, NASA probably has no such rule. The only thing you can do is contact NASA and ask about your concerns. Here's the link: http://www.nasanortheast.org/ My bet is that you won't need a roll bar. However, since I am not positive, email NASA. Here's the email address of one of the event organizers, she will get back to you promptly with answers to your questions. Her name is Linda Nguyen Email her at: linda@nj.rr.com Hope to see you there.

How did your brother pass the 'broomstick test'?

Well (Shhhh...) they let him slide a little bit... He's 6'1", so he hits the broomstick. Regardless, I think this rule was instated by this particular Porsche club, due to all the boxsters....

I'm 5' 9" at most, and my helmet would be way above the broomstick. He must do a seroius 'low rider' tilted back seating position to only hit the broomstick!
