Default Helmet for 'Long Oval' Head Shape

I am having the hardest time finding a comfortable helmet. It seems I am afflicted with the 'long oval' head shape (~23" circumference, 6" wide by 9" long). I have exhausted the local shops and am unable to find a helmet that is comfortable for more than 5 minutes, issue seems to be pressure on my forehead. Google and forum searching has not turned up much advise (if anything it seems to be inconsistent).

It seems like for motorcycle helmets, the long oval go-to is the Arai however, I have also read that Arai's SA/auto helmets are a more mid-oval shape. Arai helmets also cost is premium and I would prefer to save that for SA2020, but for that I need to wait until October 2020 before they are released.

I came across comments about some potential 'long oval friendly' helmets from:
Zamp
Bell
Simpson
Arai
Stilo

Has anyone had any experience with these helmets or other SA2015 helmet that might fit my head? I would like to keep under $400 if possible. All advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You'll have a hard time finding a full face Arai for under $400.

Have you considered or tried an HJC AR10III ?

I have not been able to fin an HJC dealer nearby. From what I have read, they are better for round heads (but that would not be the first time the internet was wrong/misleading). Do you have one?

I need an SA helmet. Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to find a Voyager locally and check the fit (It never came up in any of my searches, fingers crossed!).

Not sure what you mean by local stores? Are you visiting someone that specializes in selling SA helmets? A specialist shop may be more help than say a motorcycle shop.

I’ve always had better luck finding a well fitting helmet visiting a store than buying online.

I've been to two auto racing shops around Houston. They only had racequip and gforce options available (other than a few XL from other brands). I have not gone to a motorcycle shop yet, I imagine they would only have motorcycle helmets available. If anyone knows of any places in the area, I will be sure to try them out.

It may be worth your while to make a road trip to Winding Road Racing or to Black Armor Helmets (latter depending on your budget)

In Texas the distances are large so not sure if it’s feasible for you to drive that far. I live in Albany NY and a lot of people I know including me will either make a trip to the Boston area or to Stable Energies in New Jersey (2-3 hour drives to find a helmet)

I also have a long oval head and use a Signet moto helmet.

I wanted the integrated ear cups and general awesomeness of a Stilo ST5 and Wine Country motorsports cut the foam a little bit at the front of helmet to relieve pressure points on my forehead.

Hey there. I'm looking into my first track event with my S2K, also blessed with a long-oval head. Like you, trying to find a long oval road racing helmet for a reasonable price. Did you have luck finding non-Arai options?

Thanks,
Jeremy
