Default Helmet rating

I've spent thirty minutes reading through past threads, but ended up finding several different opinions on the matter.
My question is, will an 'M' rated helmet pass all autoX requirements?
I've read that some race-tracks require 'SA,' and some people say just spring for the 'SA' regardless, but I'm definitely not going to be tracking my car, so this helmet will only be for autoX (no roll-cage, as well as wearing normal clothes sort of make useless the fireproof/rollcage resistant features of the 'SA' helmets).

I just wanted to make sure that if I buy an 'M' rated helmet I won't be wasting my money come autoX time next year.
Thanks.

Every autocross sanctioning body I know of, including the SCCA, accepts M-rated helmets. Make sure you get an M2000 or M2005, though.

Almost all non-racing (ie. track day) organizations also allow M-rated helmets. It's pretty much only actual racing where you will see SA helmets required. You can figure that if a firesuit is not required then an M-rated helmet is probably accepted.

Make sure you get an M2005 if you pay full price. An M2000 means it's old inventory they are clearing out. In that case, be sure you get a hefty discount.

M95 is still good for another 4 years, until the M2010 standard goes into effect.

SCCA allows Snell 95 rated helmets for 4 more years. PCA and BMW require Snell 2000 or newer. M rated is OK

The one I was looking at was M2005, I just wanted to make sure I would get to use it at all autoX events before buying it.
