AutoEx: I'll be at Six Flags on Saturday, 11/16, with the BMW club and on Sunday, 11/17, with MWSCC. Then, I'll be back at Summit on Friday, 12/6. You?

Lil Raja: I liked the track a lot. It's pretty technical, and I never did get over the willies when cresting the hill into Turn 4 (negative camber and downhill) at speed with the throttle down. NASA was a bit disorganized, but there was some really great people there.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words.

Sorry to hear of your luck. Deer and race tracks are common. I narrowly missed a deer with the S2000 "inside" the GingerMan track grounds less than two weeks ago. After a day at the track, I was returning from dinner in town and one jumped out of the darkness, tripping after looking into the HID lights. The track manager the next day said how many deer you hit defines how long you've lived in the area. A couple years ago, I narrowly missed one on the 'old race course' at the Glen in the MG. The year before that I hit one in the MG. Where are all the hunters? Get'en drunk probably!

Wow! Glad you're OK!

I though the family of geese crossing the back straight at Portland was something to worry about!

My username still works. Great.

I haven't login or posted in a while. When I logged in, a PM window came up but no message, must have been deleted its been a while. Sorry, whoever PM'ed me just PM me again. I'll be logging in.

Anyways, you've got some explaining to do with your insurance company.

Deer in Summit Point that's nothing. How about cattle, yeah COWS. You see at night the surrounding farms let their milking cow out to graze. There was this all-night enduro running. And some cows ventured into the racetrack. A friend of my shined his headlights on the rump of a COW going down the straight into T1. He didn't recognized it until he passed it inches away at 125. And starts screaming on the radio, There a f'ing COW in the track, there's a F'ing COW... Could you imagine hitting a 2000lb COW!

Good luck on your repairs.

cbender:

Unbelievable! Glad you are OK (relatively speaking).

I have seen deer there before, but once they hear the engines they are gone.
Usually the first instructor session is the one that scares them away.

This carnage makes me sick. My wife and I pick up injured animals hit from sensless drivers all the time, and try to rehab the ones we can save. It is not a pretty thing and it is painful to watch them die like that. We have had the same herd of deer and their offspring come into the yard for six years now, the mothers introducing the new babies to us every spring. When you get to know them like that, you look at it differently. Race track accidents are bad news for all involved, but please be careful on the streets at night, especially if you ride a motorcycle.
