Hitch Talk
Ok, heres where I stand:
I know that I want to order a hitch, and I originally had my heart set on the Chase Race hitch, but at 440.00, is a little steep for my college budget. I was also recommended the Da'Lan Hitch, but I absolutely do NOT want to have to worry about the sheet metal in the trunk being torn out. Im aware I can get the Da'Lan for A LOT cheaper than the Chase Race, but if I have to spring for another 300.00 to ensure peace of mind, then I will. So my question to you, is the Chase Race hitch worth the premium it commands over that of its (lesser?) counterparts aka the Da'Lan?
I will be using this trailer for light autocross duty, but mainly for moving to and from College (a 300 mile trip) and also for mobile detailing (which would only consist of detailing products, small vacuum, waxes polishes and sealants, etc). Which would you recommend for my situation? Id obviously love to save some money by getting the Da'Lan, but I dont want to half-ass it and pay for it later by having to replace my trunk sheet metal.
Thanks!

Thats the way Im leaning I think. What else will I need to make the trailer work with the hitch? Im thinking a taillight wiring harness which I guess I could get at U-Haul or something, is that all? Im going to be running the Harbor Freight trailer with either a Plastic or a metal box for my detailing info. Thanks for the quick reply!

You would need the ball and mount which you can get a UHAUL and also the trailer wiring box. If you have Ap2 led taillights, they make a specific low wattage version which uses an external 12V source to prevent over current draw for your taillights.
Small fortune racing has one. I saw it the other day when I was getting instructions for my sway bar. Just search for small fortune racing web site and saw it on there. Only adds 5 lbs when the tongue is not in. Very well built.
