2 How thick?

I want it permanent mount on the car. Not risk rip off the bumper with OEM one.

Aluminum looks cooler, but if you are putting a load on it (which you will) and can't control the pull angle too well (which is often the case) go for steel and powdercoat it. The factory one is a really good compromise, and you will have to mount it under the grille on the bumper fascia anyways.

Go into your local Ford dealer and talk to the Diesel Tech
On EVERY 6.0 Ford Diesel that has the engine pulled for repair some guys take off this bracket they use on the install at the factory.

If you can get your hands on a few they work excellent.
I am rocking one on my race car
Very hard to see it but if you look in the top photo its on the pass side of the mouth in the bumper.
I will dig around for another picture or go take one.

you can even see it in my sig kind

If you want something that bolts on with out modification, check out this tow hook. They work beautiful and are a fraction of the price of some of the ones from Japan:

I come from Miata world. Never understood why a tow hook could cost more than $25 !!

All national $50k Spec Miatas use $25 tow hook (or $50 for 2).

I'm thinking about buy another stock one too. But for the JDM bling factor without JDM price. The fixed one from science of speed look good. I should be able to cut one out of the 1/4" or 3/8 steel. with the powder coated it should not be more than $35??

Thank you for all the help. I'll post picture when I make one.

So, 125 bucks vs 9 for the stocker? Hmm. I think i'll go with stock and put the money toward another track day.
