Default How low can it go?

A roll bar which will still allow the top to operate still isn't enough to stay above my helmet, so I am still at some considerable risk in case of a rollover.

So, if the protection can't get any higher, it was suggested that perhaps I could get lower. I need probably three inches.

So, I'm wondering how much lower than the stock seat a race seat can be made to sit. Also, I've seen threads about lowering the stock seat, and I'm wondering how much lower the stock seat can be made.

Finally, if I put in a race seat, how much trouble is it to put the stock seat back in for autocross?

Stock seat can only be made about an inch lower.

Race seat might get you your three inches, but you might have to do without sliders (bolt directly to floor).

Swapping stock seats in and out is easy (4 bolts); swapping the race seat in and out might be more involved, I don't know.

i have the taitec sliders and although it is lower getting in and out is not very easy, its one leg at i time, but its the best mod i did for the drivability of the car.

I have a generic race seat and taitec sliders. Ended up making my own fixed rails that lowered the seat even further than the taitec sliders. It sits about 3-1/2" lower now.

The best way to get the seat as low as possible is a non adjustable mount. You can literally get the seat about 1/2" above the floor level.

Custom made. But if you shop at Big and Tall and your S2000 seats force your toupee to argue with the soft top mechanism, it might be worth looking into. If you are local, I can possibly help you.

Realize that dramatically lowering the seat will also raise the steering wheel

Well, it turns out that there is no good way for him to put a roll bar in, while still allowing the top to operate, and making it anywhere close to tall enough for my helmeted-head to be below the bar.

So, it's back to dreaming about a dedicated track car. I do like the idea of getting an old S2000 for that; I can be patient.
