Default I need help with a splitter.

Hello s2ki,

First off yes I have searched and searched.

I need help with making a custom splitter. I have tried and I have failed. I have a Spoon sports bumper on the car so "finding" a splitter is already difficult for me. The first Splitter I made was made out of polycarbonate (3/16 thick). It was mounting brackets that are close to the wasp splitter style. When it was mounted it felt VERY safe and secure. Here is my problem that I encountered with the splitter. When driving over 80+ the front shakes like a maraca. When it sits outside and heats up the splitter looks like its warping SIGNIFICANTLY. When the temp cools back down into place and looks normal.

Here is the problem:
I call the place that recommended that I use this product. They told me to loosen all the mounting points because this plastic likes to "swell up". It is normal that swelling goes in and out depending on temp. Why did it shake? I am not too sure about that.

New idea:
Looking to make this same damn thing out of aluminum ( How thick should it be?). Does anyone see a problem with this?

Why not Carbon Fiber? I know APR can make one for you if you send in a pattern. Not to sure how long that will take.

This might help you a bit.
Maybe not.

Are you sure that the shaking is due to the splitter? Did you go 80+ without it mounted to be sure?

I would advise against making it from aluminum. Alumalite is fine but a splitter is something you want to come apart if it hits something. I have seen aluminum splitters catch on dirt during an off and quickly wad themselves up into the radiator and do lots of damage.

Carbon fiber, corrugated plastic, birch plywood and alumalite are all light and strong choices for a splitter and all of them will break and get out of the way safely if something happens.

Sounds like I will stay away from the aluminum. I hate hate to cause more damage. Looks like I will try Alumalite or does anyone have any comments on E-Panel http://graphicdisplayusa.com/en/prod...ibond/e-panel/

..so reading over the site listed above ^^ did the "aluminum splitter dams" that attach at the corner of the front bumper and splitter help... seems like the 255 tire would create drag but I didnt see them in any other pics after that.
sounds like a less wide splitter is a better way to go?

topic starter.... might be making one soon as well. If you get a quote on the material let me know. Maybe we can get it cheaper if we buy enough
