Default Infared Heat Ranges

Just saw this phone case/camera for infared applications. FLIR makes racing cameras for $1,200, but a consumer grade version is out for ~$300.

I thought of using it in the pits between sessions, but the range seems way too low to track anything useful. I use (sparingly) a Fluke probe, but just for tires.

Has anyone used thermal imaging for brakes/wheels,engine bay?

well their spec sheet says 32 °F to 212 °F (O °C to 100 °C)

so no, it's useless for looking at any car related temps.

Thats definitely true for tires, brakes and engine, but what about peripheral heat?

Heat transfer to axles, bearings, etc?

Have a read:

Rear differential temps would be another good use.
