Just Changed My Brake Pads
I am preparing for Texas motor Speedway and changed my oem pads for some panther plus pads. I was surprised that my rear pads were more worn than my fronts. My car has 2400mi and i have done 2 track events. Is this a common wear pattern for S2000s? My previuos car, a porsche 911, always went thru fronts twice as fast the rears.
IMHO, if your rears are worn more than your fronts, you are making them wear prematurely-possibly due to additional heat? Do you have any ducting to the fronts? It may be that your rears are compensating for the work your fronts are not handling. OEM pads as wells as R4S are known to crumble at track temperatures. Did you experience any crumbling or brake fade?
Yes the rears were crumbling in the same spot on both sides. and the front were cracked right down the center, no i dont have any cooling at this time but i am contemplating it seriously. I dont recall any brake fading. additionally my 2 track events were this year and it wasnt very hot out. I am expecting higher temps in may and faster speeds at this track.
If you're somewhat proficient on the track then OEM pads are completely unsuitable for your use. I wouldn't draw too much of a conclusion from data collected with them. See how the P+'s hold up and go from there. They are a much better pad for use at the track.

I consider myself somewhat proficient on the track. I can already tell these pads bite a lot harder. I am planning some type of cooling aid for my brakes. I was just surprised to see the rear pad wear so much more than the fronts.
A bunch of us have seen this wear pattern with OEM pads. As near as we can tell it indicates that you overheated the front pads and made them ineffective and thus relied on the rears much more than normal. You probably noticed some brake fade and one point but continued on as you could still slow the car down. If the session had been longer you likely would have destroyed the rear pads altogether.
