Default Kart racing

I did my first Kart race yesterday at our local indoor kart place. It was a blast.

Allsports GP

I have been there a few times for the arrive and drive but this was the first time we got 10 people together for a race event.

We did a 25 lap qualifier, and a 40 lap main.

I qualified 2nd, then my friends who setup the event, had the staff reverse the grid so I started 9th.

We did a grid start, I was able to pass 3 karts by the 2nd lap and was on the leader by lap 14, he was a blocking mofo and would just kill me on the straight. I finally go him when we got into some traffic and he made a little mistake.

I won by 12 seconds, lapping everyone but 2nd place.

I was completely wasted after the main, these things are a workout.

It seems that some of the karts are in really bad shape and its the luck of the draw on which one you get, my 2nd car had massive toe-out and would wander on the straight, but the toe-out made it easier to turn in the infield.

This was well worth the $80.00 and was an intense and fun as anything I have done racing wise. Winning the race was fun too.

Since you enjoyed those karts, you should try moving on up to 30hp, 45hp, shifter karts on a open type tracks. Quite a bit cheaper than tracking a car and much more intense than all but the most raw high performance cars.

I am too fat and out of shape for those things I fear. Most of the folks who race them are about 140lbs or less it seems.

you and your friends need to get qualified to run the super karts at allsports. they are 9hp in great shape and much more evenly matched. let me know next time, i will show you the fast line around the place.

Nah, if you enjoyed those karts, you can enjoy the gas racing karts. You could make a custom seat, etc.

Thanks Greg,

If we put another outing together I will let you know.

The time they set to get qualified for the super kart was more than a second faster than my best. I need to get up there more often, and or find some faster friends to push me.
