A little off topic and you may not be road racing, but are these FIA compliant? If not, are you thinking of a seat brace?

FIA certified seats are nice to have, but aren't required, for SCCA road racing.

Now I'm by no means an expert on this, but it is a safety standard, no? Why compromise? Is it a limitation of size-based seat choice?

They're probably not even DOT certified ;-) LOL!

But hey, the price is great and I have to tell you, I spent some time sitting in one and they are very comfortable for a race seat.

I'd love a Recaro Pole Position but the harness guides are way to low for my height. The width is absolutely not a problem
No seriously, the width is fine it's the harness openings...

I have them installed in my RX-8 autox car. They are a very good value and provide excellent support. The high side bolsters make getting in/out of them a challenge and whatever you do don't slip and fall with your butt crack aligned with the verical aluminum side bolster - lol. The removable/replaceable cover is a nice feature. Installing them is a 100% custom fitment, no getting around that. I had to bend the outboard shoulders wings in slightly to keep them from hitting the rear suicide door trim on the RX-8 when the seat was slid all the way back. Doing so made for a better shoulder holding position so I bent the inboard wings in the same amount. The width of those shoulder wings might be the only thing you need to be concerned with. They are well built with lots of stiffening ribs etc, not flimsy at all

Kirkey sells a back support attachment kit if you want that. Just because they're not FIA certified doesnt meant they aren't built as good or better than the FIA standard. Thats just not their market. Building serious auto racing seats is their business. Circle track racing is all about crashing into the wall or being crashed into

Thanks for the feedback. The guy I spoke to who sells them walked me through the custom install and the seat support bracket as well.

He might have changed recently (all safety certs expire eventually), but krazik used a Kirkey seat in his racecar for quite a while.

I have a kirkey intermediate in my endurance racer (95 civic hatch). Great seat and highly recomended by anyone that races for the bang for the buck.
In my S2k dedicated track car, I have put the Momo Start and the momo supercup in. Great looking seats for the price. the Start is for a little bit bigger guy and the supercup for the under 180 guy.
They use all the same mounts and all as Sparco... and FIA
You absolutely can not beat the start for the price I found at LTB.

thats shipped!
I would buy more if I had more expendable money.
But* the Start is wider and you will have to slightly crush in the rolled lip peice on the side edge of the tranny tunnel. You wont have to with the others.
