Default Looking for specs on the Stoptech BBK

Hello all,

I have noticed other brake manufacturers, particularly Wilwood, make it easy to research and find information on the specifics of their calipers, or big brake systems. Stoptech doesn't seem to share any information that I can find, so I am posting this in hopes that people can fill in the blanks. Particularly I am looking at piston size and area, caliper offset and mounting center, pad area, rotor hat offset. Inches or mm, doesn't matter!

Caliper Specs

Piston area (I am assuming staggered pistons?)
Piston 1 size:
Piston 2:
Piston area:

Pad size:
Pad area:

Mounting Center:
Mount Height:

Rotor Specs

Hat offset:

Also, the mounting brackets. Can anyone provide measurements similar to this?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I believe they only have one 4 piston caliper, correct? And they just vary the piston sizes and area?

There's a lot of pics and info here:

For the rotor dimensions/hat offset and caliper offset, you can use the fitment template available on the StopTech website.

The brake pad is outline D609 which is used on Porshces.

The D609 pad is not a guaranteed fit. This is straight from Stoptech:

The StopTech ST-40 caliper is designed to use a pad from various Porsche models including the 944 Turbo, 1991-1994 911 series, 1992 968 and 1986-1991 928. The FMSI number for the pad used in the StopTech ST-40 caliper is D372.Over the years, Porsche has consolidated certain pads with slightly different backing plate shapes. Though these pads that Porsche consolidated will all fit in a Porsche caliper, they will NOT all work in the ST-40 due to the tighter tolerances of our bridge and pad retaining system. Strange as it may seem, the only place you can't get a pad for the ST-40 caliper is from a Porsche dealer. Other FMSI numbers used for similar pads are D447 and D609. While this reference may work with some pad suppliers, only a D372 pad is assured of fitting the StopTech ST-40 caliper.

Here is a list of pads that will fit the ST40 caliper (X denotes pad compound):

Axxis: DB439
EBC: DPX767 (uses D447 as FMSI cross reference)
Ferodo Race Pads: FCP560
Ferodo Street Pads: FDB560

Hawk HPS: HB141F.650
Hawk Performance Ceramic: HB141Z.650
Mintex: MDB1456
Pagid: U1204
Performance Friction: 0447.XX.17.44
Porterfield: APS-4
Raybestos Race Pad: R609

SBA: 3041.X.X

Stoptech: 63-xxx-0372

i find it odd that brake components company don't supply tech info.

in the past i was comunicating with they tech support asking some tech specifications questions (other manufacturers provide this info in their web sites) and i was getting somewhat evasive answers....

Well if you look at Wilwood's site, they have a huge amount of information. They have measurement information on the various pieces...including everything I listed. They have drawings and diagrams of everything from the rotor to the caliper mounting brackets.

I was looking for the piston size for the ST-40 328mm kit and couldn't find anything so I called StopTech.

StopTech ST-40 328mm Caliper Specs:

Piston Area
Piston 1: 34mm
Piston 2: 40mm
Piston area: 2164.56 mm²

Pad Size
Pad area: Approx. 6355 mm² (9.85 in²)
Annulus (Swept Height): 50.5mm

Rotor Specs
Rotor Height: 49.3mm
*taken from here

If someone wanted to they could measure their pistons while inside the caliper and identify them using this chart:
http://www.stoptech.com/technical-su...on-size-matrix

Also, if anyone is wondering, this kit shifts the bias forward 3% from stock (67% to 70%).
