Im curious as to how it handles. I am considering this myself, but in my case I have a LSX iron block, which is a 110lb penalty over aluminum and about 200lb penalty over stock.

was gonna post vid of me reassembling the body, but one clip of me shirtless i was like NOPE

a few progress pics instead.

previous owner had cut the trunk floor out, this wasnt great for exhaust fumes. cut and bent up some aluminum and covered the openings.

cutting the bumper

ran wires from pedal switch to taillights, wired so all 4 lights come on with brakes. camera didnt do well with LEDs there all bright red.

previous owner had removed all the ABS wireing as well. so i contacted ASM and they were able to make me a stand alone ABS harness since i dont have any factory Honda wiring any more.

body back together.

in for first race alignment. we were .1 short on camber in the rear, but .5 a degree short on passenger front. drivers front i was able to get what i wanted. odd, nothing looks bent. ordered offset front balljoints to get the camber i need up front (right). offset bushings werent enough.

Looks like you still have some roll bar work to do on this. If you make it to heartland Park for gltc, I'll look out for ya. Would love to check this out!

many thanks for watching and commenting!
the corner weights didnt go so well. its 54.5% nose heavy without me in it, without cage, and without wing. all will move weight back. so theres still hope. i may also remove the headlights.
it was also horribly unbalanced left to right. unfortunately on the cross weight as well.
F 766lb / 582lb
R 489lb / 638lb

a year to the day after i pulled the LS2000 out of the garage under its own power, i finally got to test drive it.
This Sunday i went to COTA. this is the first drive ever other than around my block.
other than the worn out rear toe links on the car (came on it) the car did really well. felt good right away. the manual steering(a first for me) was surprisingly doable. although i did feel a bit of gyro effect on the wheel when id stab the front brakes, would cause me to be a bit late to the apexes. id also feel the wheel jerk a bit more in dips in the track, than i would in a power steering car.
had issues with 3rd gear, it just wouldnt stay in gear. i was suspicious of this from my drives around the block. it didnt always like to go into 3rd. easy fix with a rebuild.
other that than it was impressive for a first drive.

video! went great until it didnt!

disclaimer: ALL the fabrication you see in the vid is 100% unnecessary. The kit comes with EVERYTHING you need and the fit is so tight, theres no such thing as grind to fit or weld up gaps. its PERFECT. everything is CAD cut, bent and notched. even the baseplates.
that being said i customized the kit. reducing the nascar door bars from 3 bars to 2. and lowering them. also made a straight passenger top bar. i also deleted the roof X, the rear X, the entire dashbar/steering wheel support, the A pillar dimple die pieces, most of the corner gussets, the cosmetic sill pieces. and a bunch of other stuff im sure i forgot. the "split in half" and remove idea was mine. worked well and was how i planed from the beginning. made those impossible to reach spots, easy.
the kit comes ready to drop in and weld. scuff the paint off the 6 attachment points and weld in. none of the stuff you see in the video is normal or required.
awesome kit btw. you also get to choose Nascar bars or X bars when you order, as well as what type of hardtop.
not affiliated or sponsored. i paid full price for my kit.
