Default Which LSD to get

I'm looking to get an LSD and couldn't really find any threads with information to help me decide which to get. I see the OSGIKEN is common, but also the more expensive option. I'll spend the money if it is $500 better then the per brands, but I want to be sure before I do.

My car doesn't see enough street miles to worry about which is more comfortable on the street, so that isn't any concern. I still drive it to and from track days so I'm still NA, and running street tires.

You can read this for understanding of different types
http://www.taylor-race.com/pdf/under...ferentials.pdf

There's also at least two other threads on this same page about "diffs"
Or you could hit the easy button and call Lugod at OsGiken.

We had the option to go with a couple different brands but chose OS Giken for the tunability and reliability- the clutch packs are pretty much bulletproof and won't wear out/need replacement like on some other options. We had a group buy on these to get the prices closer to other less expensive options not too long ago. It is closed but if there is more interest we could do another run of them.

I just got mine in my car not too long ago. I've only done two track events on it but the difference was apparent and it has greatly improved the dynamics of the S2000. Once the weather cools down out here I expect to be shattering personal bests at all the tracks I frequent.

Here is a quick video from my first day testing with it, the clutch packs engage/disengage so smoothly that the car feels a little less on edge and is easier to control beyond the limit. With only 200whp and sticky tires it's a horrible drift car but you can still have some fun

Two guys that track very frequently in the S2k Challenge are using a custom tuned cusco LSD.

I'm likely going to go with Cusco since CSG is local to me; no list price on the counter space garage site, though, so depending on pricing, I'm still considering os-giken.

If you want a bullet proof solution, i'd go with the PuddyMod OS-giken which has an upgraded pinion or something (the main part that tends to break and wear out in the diff).

I've been using Kaaz for 3 race seasons and it's been faultless.

I picked up a Kaaz 1.5 that I am going to put in a PuddyMod build diff as soon as I get off my ass.

MrSideways did some testing, here we his totally biased thoughts.

Thanks for the input guys!

Interesting read on the GRM article. What makes you say its bias? You Kaaz is better than depicted or the OSG not as good as depicted??

Sounds like clutch plates are better at slower corners to aid rotation?

The track I would go do is no slower than 3rd gear at any point. I guess the stock TorSen is good enough then?

In an extreme example like if you are doing a tight 180* turn then yes the clutch pack diff will be a little quicker to put the power down to both drive tires. More importantly for road courses, the clutch packs will lock/stay locked even when you are putting power down over curbing (where the torsen can open up).
