Default Main bearings clearance

Hi..
my mechanic just rebuild my f20 engine and the clearance in the main bearings is now 0.00529 mm.
He used king racing bearing.
Can anybody tell me if the clearance is ok or it’s too loose.
Thanks for the help

Are you sure he's giving you metric clearances? I just looked in the FSM. The spec is .017-041mm (.0007-.0016") and the service limit is .050mm (.002")

If you meant to say .0529mm then that would be an ideal bearing spec imo. The oem clearance specs are very tight.

The most often recommended spec. I've read in engine blueprinting/building books and articles is .001" per inch of journal diameter.

The F20c is 2.165" x .001 = .002165" (.055 mm) So you're outside of the Honda service limit (.050 mm) but inside the most commonly recommended spec.

I've reviewed the FSM for my Nissan VQ30 and Nissan also starts below the (Journal diameter x .001") spec, but the service limit is a little over that. 2.361" x .001 = .002361" (.0599 mm) but the service limit is .065 mm.

This only works out if you do have an extra zero in your original post.
