Miata bar question
I got one from a NB miata for free, but I only see info about the NC bar. Has anyone tried fitting one from the the pre-2006 cars? Or is this bar just a paper weight? Thanks for any help.

Now that I think of it, 91-95 MR2 Front swaybars are pretty basic. I have no idea of the rate but they are b/t 17 and 19mm in size depending on year and options

TRD bars are hollow.
you could check if those would fit.
cheap too! Lots of MR2s get wrecked.

I put a 19mm NA front bar on the rear. It is significantly narrower in the center section. So narrow that I had to chamfer (spelling?) the energy suspension universal bushings on the side that the arms bent to. I also built a spacer to move it about 7/8" away from the subframe mount due to the arms being long enough that I was worried about contact with the axels. I used some Mcmaster Carr 19mm collars on the inside to hold it in place and some end links from a sonata which had the studs (balljoints) facing opposite directions to counter the difference in widths from the miata bar to the lower control arm mount. I also drilled a second hole so I could stiffen it a little if it seemed like it was worth messing with.
The reason I went this route was because after a spring rate increase in the front I found the car slightly pushy. After talking to several ppl who were running the NC bar I gave it a try on a small lot and found it to be slightly twitchy. So I decided I needed a slight spring rate increase in the rear or a softer bar. After looking at fat cat motorsports miata bar info I decided to try an NA bar and see what happend. I must say that so far I am pleased with the results on low grip sealed asphalt. It rotates well, is very catchable and predictable while still being able to get on the gas early. But I think it works well on my setup due to my lower than average STR spring rates of 700f 500r. More than likely with higher rates the results would be too subtle to warrant. But take all this with a grain of salt because I have yet to trophy at a tour let alone nationals.

Because all the bars on the market minus the gendron rear bar is stiffer then stock. The miata bar is a cheap bar that happens to fit and also quite a bit softer then the stock bar.
