My head is higher than oem rollbar.
I am looking forward to finally tracking my 2nd s2k. But I am concerned about of my helmet being higher than the oem roll bar. I had tracked my former ap2 in the past once at a private event for sound testing and had no issues driving top up or down there.
The new organization that I am driving with does allow the s2k in stock form but their rules state that the top must be down. I am 6' 4" and stick over the bar by a fair amount. Let alone with the helmet on. Should I be concerned? I know this had to be been brought up before. Thoughts?

What's really scary is when you pull the covers off them and see how low the factory roll hoops really are... I said F that and just did a Hard Dog roll bar and a race seat mounted as low as possible... I feel much safer and more secure now...
If you are worried about safety get a Hard Dog Roll Bar.
The S2000 has a pretty heafty reinforcing bar inside the window frame. So while most cars would colapse at an angle from the top of the roll bar to the front of the hood, the S2000 is likely to maintain the integrity of the a-pillar and the windshield frame.

edit: This is also why the rear hoops are 'wimpy'. The windshild frame is acting as the main roll protection, and the roll hoops and the trunk support the rear of the car.

I know that long term I will be going with a aftermarket seat as low as possible and a roll bar. But in the short term I amconcerned about the possibility of being black flagged my first weekend back on track. Has anyone heard of this happening before?
At the end of the day I don't know what id do if my helmet still was above the rollbar with a aftermarket seat/bar combo. I know at the event coming up I won't be pushing hard but would hate to spend 200 plus in event fees alone just to get flagged.

Wow that is really interesting and makes me feel more safe about driving before I get a aftermarket bar. It suppose it just comes to chance on whether or not the organizers are aware of this sort of thing. I feel like if I call and ask the director it will just bring the issue to the forefront. Where as if I don't I may be able to drive a full day.

It's interesting to note that the Mid-Ohio School S2000s do not have roll bars, but, the hardtop Acura TSXs do.

edit: When I took the high performance course at Mid-Ohio they were only using the S2000s for the Autocross section and the TSXs for the rest of the course. My personal opinion is I wouldn't track my car without a roll bar and a HANS, but, maybe I'm paranoid.
