Default my proposed wheel tire track setup

I posted this message in the wheel and tire forum and didnt get much help. I know some of you are running simular setups... just need a little help. As of right now I dont have any other mods except brakes (just pads and fluid)
I just want a little extra rubber under the car, but maybe im going too far?

Anyone have any comments on this or if ill rub....
Ive been thinking of these slightly cheaper wheels, although they are pretty light
17x8 up front with 235-45
17x9 rears with 275-40
Tires will be the toyo RA1s and the wheels are going to be the 5zigen Fn01r-c... (16-17 lbs)

I can get the whole setup for 1600 bucks, and have alot of tire under me. Im fairly new at the wheel thing, so any help would be appreciated.

I got the website from grassroots motorsports mag... its www.edgeracing.com

Thanks!

It all depends on the offset of those wheels and if you can really squeeze the 275s in out back without rubbing. Even with the "magical" +63 CE28 17x9s, there is rubbing in the rear with 275s.

the next size down in the toyo is the 255-40... I should be able to easily fit that in the rear? I know Ill be a little tail happy with the 235s up front though.

Yep, the 255s fit fine but again, the offset is the ctritical piece of the equation which you haven't provided here. It's unfortunate but Toyo doesn't really have an ideal 17" fitment for the S so the 235/255 combo will likely cause some more tail happiness. That can be ameliorated somewhat with tire pressures, maybe a larger front (or smaller rear) swaybar and shock/spring tuning.

There are many people running that combination now, given that the 2nd gen S2K runs 17s stock. I'm sure some of them will pop in here with their experiences.

With a 48mm offset you would be running less offset than stock and more rubber. That's a recipe for rubbing - big time.

There's nothing wrong with the tires you're picking, it's the rims. You will just have to belly up and buy some rims made for the S. I find the Volks to have too little offset for tires that are actually wider than stock vs. those tires that are only rated as wider than stock.

The only reason I said that is there is this guy who put the same brand wheel on his car, and it seems to be alright... 17x7.5 up front and 17x8.5 in the rear with 48mm offset... its the 3-4th post down.

I need to do a little more research...(and stop being so cheap) thanks for the heads up!

He didnt' mention tire brand so you can check the real size and he didn't say anything at all about how they fit. He'd just gotten them.

PM him, I guarantee he's getting rubbing.

It is amazing how much room there is on the front and how little on the back.
