My STR thread....rocket71
Where do you cut the stock exhaust? I am going to try that first.

I had the T1R EM 70 ti exhaust and LOVED IT. It was really about the best exhaust I've had. I just run a cut stock exhaust now because I have some how regained some sanity on my second STR car build. I don't think it's too loud so keep that in mind.

Ughh...that does not sound good. I have been searching and can't seem to find the right price vs db level. I was looking at litespec but that seems to be too loud. The there is the J's Racing but damn that is pricey.

Could always modify it further with a custom muffler found later in that same link. I usually read around 88db on my modified OEM exhaust. With the v-band, It easy to clamp on the OEM mufflers, giving you the best of both worlds! That was the point of the modified stock exhaust.

Update:
I have been pretty active the last 2 months. There was the minor hiatus due to a large error at the National Street Tire Challenge. My co-driver and I have been to Knoxville x2, Chattanooga x2, and Blytheville Tour. After the tour event we decided to do some upgrades to get the car a little closer to hose on top. I keep saying we are really just making changes for Phil since he is much faster than I am.
I was lucky enough to have a couple of top drivers take a spin in my car at the Blytheville TNT. The feedback was the same. The car was balanced decently but was slow to transition.
Since the event, we threw the kitchen sink at it. The goal was to increase the speed at which the car transitions and tighten it up a bit. We are now running a somewhat unconventional setup and are going to test it at Atlanta tomorrow. The front springs are now 800 (from 600) and the rears are at 500. We also put on a Miata front bar on the rear. The Gendron (solid) front is currently at 5 of 6.
Tomorrow will be the first chance to try it out. Wish us luck.

sort of but not exactly. Hes on the monster bar. His bar setting is still a quite a bit stiffer then yours. Not my set-up so I'm not giving away his specs, he can do that. See you in Nashville buddy!
To me I'd guess your car is very loose. Maybe the 300 lb/in difference in springs settles it down a bit.

I look forward to meeting you. It will be good to put more faces to names. I met Dave at B'ville. Great guy. I should of had a note pad. Him and Mark both were very open with their setup. At the end of the day it was cheapest to get to their setup from my last setup than to say Glagola's. Although, I did order those front swaybar bearings from Gendron after seeing them on Matt's.
I hope it isn't too loose. What adjustments could I make at the event tomorrow if it ends up loose? tight?
I'm on the same front and rear bar as you and running my front bar full stiff. My springs are 900f/700r. my alignment is...
front-
2.8 camber
0 toe
Rear-
2.4 camber
1/8 toe in not sure on the degrees of the top of my head.
Heres a video of my car from the last event, you can tell it's a bit loose. The thing with the ap1 is the rear toes out under braking and rear end lift situations. (de-compression) When people like me at the moment and you currently run low toe-in settings in the rear, the rear can actually toe it's self out. Esp with soft rear springs like your currently running. When the rear toes out the car gets very loose. People like Matt say to run 1/4 toe-in to remedy this. I'm going to be running 1/4 toe-in on my set up next year and running 800lbs rear springs. Basicly copying the second place guy at nationals since our set-ups our allready so close.
"If" the car is to loose at your event you can either disconnect of the rear endlink on the swaybar. This will make the rear roll rate 135in/lb less and should plant th rear wheels better. The other option is to go one notch stiffer (full stiff) on your front bar. This will make the front roll stiffness 100lbs more and will make the car transition faster while also making the car tighter. I can actually tell a difference in one bar notch.
Matt and Dave are great guys and always willing to help with setup. Although Dave has been a little more secertive over the last 6 months than he used to be though. If your car is working for you currently don't make any changes based on my jargin. Drive the car and if it does end up being alittle loose you have 2 options. It might not be with the 300lbs/in difference in springs and your driving style.
