MY02 track help
After two days at the track last year I am now hooked and plan to make a few trips again as soon as we dry out here. I drive a my02 with intake, exhaust (Spugen single), SSR wheels w/ a032, synthetic oils and upgraded brake fluid. While at the track my instructor told me that our cars tend to oversteer more than others (which "others", I don't know). He did drive to the track in his sons s2000 so I guess he is familiar with the car. I have read that a x brace and/or front sway bar may help to quell the oversteer. My plans are to make the changes after a few more trips to the track. I want to get smoother before I make too many changes to the car. I also will be going to a few auto x this summer. this car is used for street and track. Alignment is stock my02. It would be great to see my autox times lower than my friends wrx.
what is a happy medium between street and track? I want to be fast one day but don't want to give up streetabilty.
I have been reading allot on this site and some others but feel overwhelmed with information.
Thanks in advance

A couple of questions:
what sizes are your wheels and tires?
have you had your alignment checked, or are you assuming it's a correct stock alignment?
have you experienced oversteer at the track?

Thanks for the response. I believe I will go the second recommended alignment. I don't mind a little uneven wear. Right now my A032 in the rear are wearing more on the inside. I was reading a post that said an x brace may or may not help performance but said that the benefit would most likely be felt on a rough road. Most of our spirited drives on bumpy back roads. I believe that the sanner bar would be the best bang for the buck. How long and hard is the install?

The 225/245 tires are probably contributing to oversteer, as they have more front relative to rear contact than the stock tires. You could switch to 205/245, or consider a bigger front sway bar to counteract.
What about the alignment? If you haven't had it checked/set, it could be anything.

Thanks Ted,
The alignment is currently set to the stock MY02 settings.
Jeff Suggested using the following:
An alignment, which is a must in the first place, can be all-out (-1.5 to -2 degrees front camber, -2.5 degrees rear) or a mixture of street and autocross using the most negative factory specs (-1.0 front, -2.0 rear).
This will probably be my starting place as far as alignment goes.
I'll be honest I still need to do allot of reading before I can understand what all this means.
thank you both for the help. I am so excited that I'm sure without the good advise I have gotten here I'd probably be lost.

is there one x brace that is superior to others? I'm not too concerned with the weight difference between steel and aluminum but I have seen some different designs. Example Whiteline and Spoon don't look anything alike.
